The key to completing each search involves working through our proven recruiting, selection and hiring process. We begin by gaining a full understanding of your company and your requirements and end by making sure your candidate hire is successfully on-boarded.
1. Needs Assessment
In an initial meeting with you, we develop a full understanding of the position requirements. The necessary skills, experience, education, and personal attributes of the successful candidate are discussed in detail. Meeting with your executive and hiring team, we learn company and individual characteristics that will help us identify the right-fit candidate. Working as a partner with you, we strive to understand your business model, company goals and objectives, strategic alliances and partnerships, as well as industry, economic and competitive factors that play a key role in your business arena. We look to discover key areas of opportunity and career leverage for potential candidates. At this time, we also determine the level of confidentiality desired for the search.
2. Position Specification
After a complete needs assessment, a detailed position specification is submitted to you for approval. The position title, primary business functions and priorities, reporting relationships, and compensation range are specified in addition to the qualifications and right-fit characteristics required. The specification provides the basis for our search effort, and the information will be used to generate interest with potential candidates. With your approval, the information may also be shared with network contacts that may be in a position to recommend potential candidates.
3. Research and Candidate Identification
Companies and organizations employing prospective candidates and referral sources are identified. Potential candidates are isolated and targeted for contact. You are consulted before company or industry-sensitive search targets are contacted. All relevant company, industry, competition and candidate information is retained for reference throughout the search process.
4. Candidate Contact
Initial contact is made with prospective candidates. During the initial and subsequent contact, interest is cultivated as a complete candidate profile begins to take shape. You are made aware of progress with prospective candidates throughout this initial recruitment phase.
5. Candidate Interview and Evaluation
A face-to-face interview is arranged for the most qualified candidates. When this is not practical, the interview will be held by teleconference or by telephone. During this detailed interview, the individual profile, qualifications and right-fit characteristics are refined.
6. Client – Candidate Meetings
At the completion of the initial interviews, those who most closely fit the position specification are submitted to you, along with our comments and information concerning candidate qualifications and suitability. First meetings are arranged. Post-meeting debriefings are conducted to obtain interviewer and candidate feedback. You are given detailed information concerning reactions and impressions of candidates. Preferred candidates are selected and move forward to additional meetings and the final selection process.
7. Reference Checking
Upon selection of a finalist, reference checks are conducted. Former supervisors, peers, and subordinates are contacted in order to gain insights regarding skill, experience, ability, competency, performance record, work ethic, team relationships and integrity. Academic credentials and earnings may also be verified at this point. At your request, reference checking may take place at any point in the process.
8. Offer Negotiation
With a full understanding of both hiring company and candidate interests, we are in a unique position to assist you with sensitive offer negotiations. We can assist in structuring a mutually acceptable compensation package and negotiation of other details leading to offer acceptance.
9. Follow-Up
Close contact with the candidate is maintained during the potential counteroffer phase. Thereafter, periodic communication with the client and the new employee helps ensure a successful transition and integration.
