Following the burst of the economic bubble in 2008, I was contacted by a large number of professionals seeking job search advice. As the number of contacts increased and became almost unmanageable, I needed a way to help as many people as I could without losing control of my time. I created a blog to capture and share my thoughts on job search strategy. While doing research for the Resources Page of the blog, I encountered some very good career and job search information sources. Smart Moves Happen When Opportunity Knocks

“Smart Moves” is a phrase we use in our network and candidate communications. Making a smart move is about leveraging your career potential. It’s about joining a company or taking an entrepreneurial direction that provides greater challenge, greater opportunity and greater reward. It’s also about being in the right place at the right time.

I read Opportunity Knocks Again In Job Market this morning in the Minneapolis Star Tribune. It’s a timely article by Dee DePass pointing out that, for the first time in 3 years, an increasing number of employees are making changes, taking risks and pursuing their passions. You may be one of them.

As widespread confidence in our economic recovery continues and increases this year and next, I believe we’re going to see nearly record-breaking numbers of business professionals making smart moves. Employees who have putting up with stagnant wages, tolerating poor management or remaining with a losing cause for fear of making a change in a volatile job market are now more likely to make a move to pursue fair market compensation and join a better managed company with a winning edge.

After a few tough years, positive change in the job market and in economic opportunity is palpable. I believe more positive change is coming. In my view, there’s no better time than right now to make a smart move. After all, being in the right place at the right time has always been one of the proven ways to accelerate your career.
